You should check out your CPI and Nut Kit. It's a common failure, and will cause a rich condition due to fuel leaking down in to the cylinders. If this is your problem, it should be fixed asap because the fuel will leak into the oil and can cause permanent engine damage.

Your EGR problem could simply be caused by a piece of carbon that has become lodged in the valve. A quick cleaning may solve it.
