I think that the previous poster was trying to explain that in the bulbs with two filiments, when one blows, it sometimes shorts across the other, causing screwy results. I have a reoccuring problem with my 64 Malibu tailamps. One tail light goes out when you brake! Caused by a bad ground.

You are correct sir! Changed out the right front bulb today, and it is working great now. It actually started flashing again once I removed the socket, but I replaced the bulb anyway just to be sure it stays working...
