it would help a ton. I had to replace mine after getting ahold of some really bad gas the replacing the fuel pump and filter. I figured out it was the cat by drilling a small hole in front of the cat in the pipe. I left it small enought to be welded closed , but large enough to let some exhaust flow. helped considerablly. then I replaced the Cat and closed the hole and took care of the problem.
