Re: could it be the timing chain or timing belt? 1994 SIERRA

Would a plugged cat affect horsepower and how much its letting me get up and go? how do you think it would run if i took it off and replaced it w/ a high flow cat? i dont want to run it w/ no cat like urs so i'd replace it. but lets just say i swapped it out for a new cat, how much better do you think it would run. like i said before, it shifts like a charm yet its getting to the shifting part whats the trouble. it runs great for what is installed so something is obviously slowing her down. nothing mechanically wrong, just slow and sluggish. I think i will try to swap it out before i mess w/ timing. How can you tell if it is plugged? I mean of course a stock cat from '94 is rusted out but how else can i tell. Lets say on a scale from one to ten, how much do you think by replacing the cat it would help and how exactly does a plugged up cat affect my "get up and go" ability?
