I'm looking to buy (online) a diff that's out of a '98. They are claiming it will fit in an S-10 PU (which is what I have). They gave me some measurements and I'm verifying those on my truck.

Does anyone know if this is a 7.625 (which the seller doesn't know but thinks it is) or 8.5?

From the pics, It looks like the spring perches are mounted on top - so that diff is mounted underneath the leaf spings. Is this correct? (the S-10 mounts on top of leaf springs).
