Re: Gas Mileage Improvements
Our 95 Blazer gets 16.5+ MPG, mostly I would say town driving as we live 5 miles from town, but it is not like we pull out on a freeway and hit 65 to town. I have two stops minimum to town.
Our 93 Blazer is getting 12-13 MPG right now, both use the same Vortec 4.3, both travel the same routes to and from home. My wife drives the 95 and beats me home and to town every day. The 95 just simply runs 100% smoother than the 93. I replaced the CPI and nut kits when I bought the 93 back in November or October but for the past few months it has had a horrible stumble or hesitation just off idle at various times, sometimes cold, sometimes hot. I get no check engine light, no foul smell from the exhaust.
The 95 has 116K and the 93 has 114K. I'm going to tear the upper plenum off this weekend and see if by chance the nut kit or pressure regulator is leaking. A couple hours of my time and a 6 dollar gasket I feel would be money well spent.
On the highway and anything above just off idle and the 93 Blazer runs great. It has had a full tune-up; plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, injector assembly, nut kits, tranny fluid and filter, EGR valve was spotless and had already had the gasket replaced with a screened gasket, but I replaced it again as I didn't know this until disassembly.
