if the fluid is still maintaining it's color, it might be good still... at 175,000 miles, its kinda iffy but if you took care of it, it might last another 175,000 miles. My dad sold his 90 chevy truck that we used to pull our 8000 pound trailer with and it had the 700r4 and a 350, both original and having 180k miles. the trans was starting to shift funny every once in a while though...
i have seen in ads where i live that you can get a replacement 700r4 transmission for about 500 bucks, i dunno about labor though... as for how long they last after a rebuild, i have no idea, but im assuming quite a while.
