Re: Fuel Pump Rewire?

To give a relatively recent personal experience, I rewired the stock pump in the EVO. With stock wiring and the voltage associated with it, it was mathematically good to ~35 lbs/min. At 34 lbs/min I would start to see the WBO2 pull away from the calculated AFR. So that was right on. According to the calculations it would be good for something like 44 lbs/min rewired. Sure enough, I have been as high as 43 lbs/min with WBO2 tracking calulated nicely.

Before the end of the season however I went to a 255, just because they are so cheap, and it's not as big of a strain on the stock EVO FPR since the stock EVO pump is roughly a 190. With large pumps I like the rewire not so much for the extra flow (but this is still a concern when you max out a 255 as I was and many others are these days) but for the extra current capacity. The 255s and Supra pumps etc can draw over 20 amps, not something I'm comfortable with on the weak stock wiring (18ga?).
