New Thermostat (and bruised knucles, this sucker is a pain to work on because of clearances). Upper Radiator Hose is now Hot. Also Opened bleed valve and the coolant's plenty warm.

When I trade the heater hose back from the fire wall, the "hot" feed seems to wrap around the front of the engine and connect to a fitting that disappears between the two halves of the intake manifold.

When I open the bleed valve near the water pump on the tube that feeds hot water to the heater core, there's coolant but no pressure? Does anybody know if this thing has a heater control valve someplace? What controls water flow into the heater core ?
