Generally, It's a good idea to carefully "trim" around the edges (as close to the coloured part of the of the decal as you dare) with a sharp X-11 blade *before* you put it into the water.

If you've already applied the decal and the clear part is showing, you will need wait until the decal is properly dried then trim the decal *extremely carefully* whilst on the model using the same X-11.

(Better to trim it on the coloured plastic, not on the transparent in this case - It'll be harder to see, if you cut too deep).

Some models are now being released where you can peel the transparent "carrier-film" off altogether, once the decal is properly dry.

Lets hope this becomes the norm rather than the exception, eh?
