That wouldn't be because of raising the octane, unless you were having issues with detonation. The higher the octane the less combustible the gas is. You are right though, the reason for high octane is to prevent detonation, and gstnewb will be just fine at 14-15 psi on pump gas but I would recommend you use 93 if its available
