Re: 1992 Regal, 3.8 lit. stalled

Sounds like an Ignition module problem, or a coil pack problem. or a combination of both. I would Replace the Ignition module or atleast get it tested at your local garage. and then try the packs..... if one or more of the packs is giving out, that could be part of your problem. If you cant get the Icm (ignition control module, commonly refered to as a base plate) tested at a garage, remove the plug wires from one pack, and try to turn over the motor. There should be a Bright blue spark (you will hear it) jump between the 2 terminals of the coil pack. then move onto the next coil pack, and so on and so forth. if they all give spark, i would check the wiring around the engine. Or even... Possibily the crank sensor moved out of position,a nd you might jsut have to re-align it. It could be that simple. Because a hard code for a crank sensor, will make the vehicle not run. a cam sensor, will make the vehicle run in sequental firing mode (the last known good configuration that the ecm remembers), but will not cause a vehicle to not run.
Good luck,
Bill
