If the heater core is just clogged and not leaking, a simple fix that has worked for me consistently is to switch the inlet and outlet hoses on the firewall. The clogging is from constant one-way directional buildup of sediment and is often made worse or complete if you have added any radiator stopleak. By reversing the hoses you create a back-flush action that forces everything back into the general cooling system. If this works for you make sure to do a general cooling system flush afterwards so the same crud doesn't redeposit itself over time.
