I've never heard of the tvr, so take anything I am about to say lightly since I don't know anything about it! It's a very nice-looking car. I obviously can't say anything about the comfort or performance since I've never driven one or even seen one. I'm sure it's very very fast as you say.
I still like the 5 much better. The styling, performance, and functionality/comfort come together to create a car that is at once purposeful and dignified. Those are qualities I really like. And thanks for the complement.
By the way, if anyone who currently owns an E39 5 would like to give it to me, I could readily provide you with an address for shipment. I'll even give you my '86 E28 in exchange!
