My buddy just got a 84 Fiero 2,5L I-4. I think it said something like 2MZ or 2M6 on the back. Dunno what that means.

My assignment as my group of friends "mechanic" is to find out what it needs.

Basic problems include;
Fuel injector will not consistantly work. It only works every now and then. Had to pulse starter fluid into the body to keep it running for more than a few secs.
Busted headlight motor.
Electrical demons on the inside of the cab... Ignition won't fully turn off.

When the injector does fire, it atomizes cleanly. I had to screw around with the plug on top before it would fire. At one point it worked for about 30 secs then quit. Whats going on?

What all do I need to be looking for?
If it's a 4 cyl. The fuel filter is on the top of the engine, not underneath. Change it. Then if still no injector pulse, check for electric at the injector. Use a test light at the injector. If it does have juice run some injector cleaner threw it. Pore it right in the fuel filter before installing last line to injector. If none of this works change injector.
Head light not going up and down is common on these cars of all years. Again your your test light is your friend. Check for juice at the plugs going into the motors when you turn the headlight on and off. If you have juice then the motors are gone, replace or rebuild motors.
The ignition is not shutting off? Do you mean the key won’t turn all the way off or the electrics don’t go off? If the key will not turn off, pull the wheel off and check for broken parts. Something may be broken or jammed in there. If the electrics don’t turn off the switch at the bottom of the column may be misaligned, damaged or just broken. This can possibly be part of the injector problem too.

Good Luck, And have fun.
