Gaining even 45 hp is a long shot. Your car would have to be running awful from the start. On my friends SVT Contour, he bought a SCT X-Calibrator which is exactly what your speaking of. The guy added quite a bit of timing and leaned it out to about 13:1 air/fuel and he picked up about 10 whp and 5 wtq. I know your displacement is bigger than a 3.0L, but 45-60 whp is silly.

The software your talking about has no chip at all. If its something like an X-Cal thats already programmed and you just reflash the computer, then thats fine. However, if its something like Greedy E-manage where you actually tune it yourself, I would not recommend that. All of the tuning guru's that I know that use an E-manage, tell newbies its a sure way to mess up your engine if you don't know whats going on.
