check all your connections between MP3 player and head unit. it could be a bad cable going between them if there is one. on my stereo i have and aux input and have an RCA to 3.5 mm plug running between my MP3 player and stereo. sometimes the cable wiggles lose or the cable just gets a short in it. if checking all the connections doesn't work, try a new cable.
another thing, if you really want to you can send me your MP3 player and i'll try it out for you... make sure it works alright.... see how well it sells on ebay.... all that good stuff
