I don't recall for sure but I believe the bell housing of the 3.0L tranny is different from a 3.0. Who looked at your 3.5? Are you loosing coolant? Did they do a Leak Down Test?
Why put a newer engine in? Just rebuild your engine. If done properly it will outlast a NEW engine from Mitsu.
