Is it capable of full time 4wd (center diff unlocked) or is it only locked in 4hi or 4low?

Do most come with LSD's in the rear?

Is the auto tranny good for 150K miles?

Thanks much in advance

Mitsubishi offers a choice of both 2WD & 4WD systems on Montero's (montero sports offer 2WD, 4WD, and AWD IIRC. In all 4wd with an automatic front hub.

The transfer case is gear driven. The rear differential may be open, have an LSD, or possibly a Mitsu (not arb or other manufacturer) air locker.

For an LSD, look for a sticker on the driver door jamb area, or on the diff itself indicating it has an LSD and requires the proper fluids.

For a locker, look for a switch in the dash for a Rear Diff Lock.

If neither of these exist, you may still have an LSD and the only way to know will be to lift the rear dif so both tires are in the air (use jack stands). Next spin one tire/wheel to see which direction the other tire turns. If it turns in the same direction, then you have an LSD, but if the other tire turns in the opposite direction, then you have an open diff.
