thanks in advance guys
If your 96 is like my 97, the replacement pump can be gotten at most auto part stores. I got one for $105 at Pep Boys. Don't even think about getting one at the dealer. They won't sell you one, just the entire pump, pump housing, fuel quantity sender unit, pressure regulator and filter assy for about $650. The pump kit I got also had a new seal for the cap that screws on to retain the pump housing assy and new fuel pump strainers which I HIGHLY suggest you replace if you are in there. Save yourself a lot of trouble later when they clog up, which they are known to do. If your pump is integral to the tank, you will have to drop the tank to remove it. If it and the filter mount outside the tank, like on the frame rail just forward of it, then I can't tell you much, as I have only done the other kind. There was a dealer recall on the 97 about the fuel quantity sender unit being replaced due to inaccurate readings. The new module just clips on to the housing, so it's a snap to do if you have the assy out.

I can't tell you anything about the spring, as I have never messed with one yet.
