I believe I know which wire you're talking about. Is it the smaller wire on the alt? I know on my Windstar that smaller wire was loose and the Alt light would come on once and a while. I was ready to replace the alt. I got the idea to wiggle the wire. The light went out. FYI

I would give the Gen shop you had check out the Alt a call. I'm sure that they would know.
