I've tried Jasper engines in a few of the taxis in my fleet. They are expensive, but I had excellent luck with the 8 or 10 I tried over the years. They are the only reman 4.6's I've had any luck with. On the other hand, I usually replace engines with junkyard motors for way less money and have had no problems yet. Just buy from a reputable scrapyard.

On the tranny, I would strongly recommend replacing it while the motor is out. To rebuild it will probably cost you 1100-1500. You can buy a Ford factory reman unit for about 1500-1600 + labor. You could also check out "Greenleaf." I buy used trannies from them all the time, but your gonna have a hard time finding one to go in a 92 that has low mileage.
