Those red shocks are not bilsteins, I had them on my truck for 75k miles, then put Bilsteins on--like night and day! This is a '99 Z71, my '98 Z71 came with Bilsteins and they were good for as long as I had the truck--180k miles. Chevy stopped using Steins on Z71's when they went to the new bodystyle I believe. Even worse are the black shocks that come on the 2500HD's. My 04 Duramax rode like crap from day one, some research on the deiselplace.com lead me to replace the factory shocks at 15k miles with steins--like night and day--it was a different truck! 34k for a new truck and they give you the cheapest shocks in the world!
