Also, How Old is your Battery? Are the Battery Cables clean? Did anyone load test it?
you said "I had the alternator replaced (which everyone said was the problem) but it will only run a little while and then you have to boost it off again". Did they (machanics) test the Charging system to determine the Alternator was bad. A dead cell in a battery will drain all the power out of it and act the same way as you describe...
