I had a blazer do this....only once though, right after a new starter was put on, just got a faint click. I just kept bouncing the key from run to start a few times then it cranked and never did it again in the remaining yr we had the blazer. On GMs though they have shims to adjust clearances between the starter gear and flywheel, not sure if that can even be done w/ a chrysler starter, how does it mount? DO the bolts go up from the bottom or in from the side or do they go into the block, like in parallel w/ the startermotor body? Hard to describe what I'm trying to state, but bascially if you were to place a shim under a bolt between the starter and block how would it move it, just in and out or would it move it up and down in relation to the block, as in to allow more clearance between the 2 gears?
