The PASS-Key® II module produces the Theft Deterrent Fuel Enable signal when the ignition is ON and the proper key resistor pellet is sensed by the PASS-Key® II module. Since the engine will start and run for a few seconds, this is telling me that the TD is reconizing a theft attempt and disabling fuel.
There are some involved diagnostics with this system

I called the dealer and gave them my VIN and they stated that there was no chip or security in the key. I had a lock smith take a look and he said the same thing. The key is a plain key with a black plastic head. Would the chip be visible?
