Heck, look at my I6 2.6, stock is 8.5 with 4 valves and from the factory it comes with 10lbs boost, and you have to run 94oct to keep the det away.
I must say I do like that engine, should be fun to see what the market is like for it in a couple of years.

you can run a focus with 11-12psi on stock 9.6:1 if you know how to tune
Quite a few Zx2's run 8-10PSI (weaker bottom end then the focus)
