allright this is from experience.
you can get the housing for the lock at a junk yard but make sure you get the lock key for year of the housing, but you are better of if you get the lock with the key at a junk yard that dont have you take off the part yourself. So for example if you get the housing w/ the clamp thats clamped on the steering column thats from a 91 and your car is a 88 then you will have to get the lock key for a 91 from a part store or junk yard. But the lock key is confusing and difficult to get in the housing, so i went to a junk yard and paid $45 and i got the housing, lock, and the key.So do what you got to do.
