I've never seen one without that plastic, unless it had a kit or something similar on it. As far as the stands, most of them have a dip in them, it centers the load on the stand which with this kind of weight and you being under it, is a good thing. Mine frequently touch the plastic part, but it's not resting on it. Without seeing how much it's touching or resting, the best advice I can give is to let it down slowly, and if it looks like it's digging in, or really bending, then stop and put it back up. You can also put a stand under the control arm, and a few other spots, but that lift point is the best.
