They will ping & performance will go down. The knock sensors will constantly pull timing & try to add it back so you don't get any damage done, but they will ping. If you can't hear it & it acts normal, you'll be fine. If you can hear it, I wouldn't run it like that for years, but no damage should happen for a few years unless you just drive the shit out of the car.
