it could be, more info would help! Have you replaced any of the following and or prof. had them checked - thermostat, water pump, hoses, radiator, etc., anything with the cooling. Had a pressure check done on it?

now - do your fans work without the switch? if don't know, when car is cool check coolant make sure its full, shut hood, start car and keep ac off and rev it alittle until your gauge goes past the half way mark but not to the orange, pop the hood and see if they are on, if not you need to check your coolant temp. switch - fan resistor - etc., if these are bad they normally store a code on your computer,

if your fan does work, go to the pawn shop and buy a gun just don't make her suffer to much, yeap its late entertainment for me lol, anyways, lets start with that first,

if your still having a coolant lose try to find where it is, if you don't find a leak we'll just discuss that later, there are so many reasons these cars overheat, on my 92 it was overheating because my transmission fluid was old, another time was because I bought an aftermarket alt., these cars love acdelco! When replacing any parts just remember to buy acdelco, I've learned a long, hard, and expensive lesson from not doing that myself! Hope this helps!
