well, I was able to fix my problem that was similar to yours. However, my check engine light was on, and flashing code 22 (coolant temperature sensor) Upon inspecting the coolant temperature sensor, the two wires leading into the plug for it, were exposed and touching. I seperated the two wires, and coated them in liquid electrical tape, and replaced the sensor, now it runs just fine again. Don't know if that's your problem or not. I paid $25 for the sensor for my car through Auto Zone.
