Angry Hood latch stuck!!

While putting my '98 M3 in storage for the winter, (in my garage). Hood still open...... I noticed an old blanket and put it over the engine at the last minute....why I did this BONEHEAD move I still don't know .....anyways I closed the hood and gave it a little push and whalaah guess what?? Can't get the hood open again!! There is about an 1/8" opening where I can push it up and down and slide a thin screwdriver onto the safety release latch and raise it up, but its not budging at all. I duct taped the hood release inside the car open and facing the car, through the grill I can see the right latch move back and forth but cannot see the left latch, where I bet the blanket lodged in the latch. Where is the left latch and how am I going to get this to open again?......Any suggestions short of a crowbar would be welcome........
