I had the same problem
At 130K my 94 740i had the a vibration around 20 - 25 mph and again around 50 - 60 mph.
The problem was the center bearing and the drive shaft. It was about $850 to repalr. A lot of bmw E32s have this problem. So much so that if there's only a slight vibration, many mechanics consider it normal for this model. But excessive vibration indicates a problem.
I've also read that on the Internet a company that sells an alternative to the BMW drive shaft. You might want to investigate that a bit. Good Luck, Al
