I have a milling machine with a rotary table and a lathe. I made the bolts by turning a 1/8" brass rod down to about 0.070" in the hex-shaped area, then turned the adjacent areas down to about 0.025". I could have taken the chucked brass over to the milling machine to mill the hex flats on the rotary table, but that would have taken alot of time. I opted to remove the brass part from the lathe and sanded the hex flats by putting the part in a pin vise that has a hex head end. Using the pin vise hex head as an index, I sanded the six flats on each bolt head. Oh hell, I'll make a tutorial to explain it better.

Robrex - I couldnt find any hex rods of the size I wanted, so had to go this route. At least I can make any size hex I want.
