He's your superior. He's probably already been where you were and has moved up. A manager's responsiblity is to do just that, manage. He might not be doing work that your doing, but I guarantee he's doing work you don't see him doing.

He occasionally helps out with that sort of work, but only because he doesn't want to be the biggest dickhead of a boss. Bust most of the time, he's measuring, ordering, and making sure all is well on the job site.
