Most of the bigger wrecking yards keep good records of their stock and they also warranty their parts. You also have an option of taking the tranny to a tranny shop and have them tested on a machine to make sure that it is working at which point you can have the filter and fluid changed.

To find a vacuum leak, start checking rubber hoses and plastic pipes for cracks, those cars have alot of plastic pipes on the right inner fender.
