All that scratch remover stuff is crap. If you want something that is really good, use butter compound. That is what professionals use to detail cars. The swirls are the result of constant passing over the towel, chamois and what not. I can't tell you exactly what causes them but, that can be one of them. I have people usually detail my car but I'm going to start doing it myself as I am going to be painting my car over. If I get the name of the compound, I will let you know.
