I'm surprised he didn't try to sell you an O2 sensor. Next time you get a CEL, get the code read and go

An easy thing to try is to tighten your gas cap. A loose gas cap (could also be caused by the vapor canister or fuel tank pressure sensor) is the usual cause of the Evap Leak code.
