Doubt the cat would do this, you need to check for fuel pressure at the rail when it dies, if good, spray carb cleaner into the intake if it starts you have a fuel delivery problem. If not it should be scanned for cranking rpms, if none, suspect crank sensor or Ign. module, without experience this is not a job for an amatuer, lots of parts and money could be wasted here.
