I'm Aussie, but I lived in Malaysia for 5 1/2 years when I was young. I miss the monsoon rains, living a 50 second run to the beach from my house on Jalan Hashim (Penang Island). I miss walking through jungle to a kampong and the bustle, smells and sound of different languages and dialects. I miss durian and lichees, bags with flavoured ice and exploring rubber plantations. *sigh*
I didn't miss innoculations every 6 months. "I think I'll come back later was my comment to my mother as I bolted down the stairs of the Hospital and out the door the first time I had to have them done
When we lived there we missed Aussie lollies. Whenever you went to Malaysia kids would bring bags of Aussie lollies with them - instant friends for life

I didn't miss Australia too much - other than knowing that it was my home. But I find it hard to think of living anywhere else - to me it's like no-where else on earth.
