The 5.0 rivals the Smallblock Chevy for the amount of aftermarket parts available. The only advantage the SBC has always had as a buildable motor is the the ready availability of better flowing CHEAP heads. (I.E. 305 HO heads), where with a Ford you need a head swap to make over 300 RWHP typically.
The 5.0 is a great car to start with, though, very easy to work on compared to a 4.6.
