I got a 96 328is 2 years ago for 18.5k (again a very low price, it was slightly below wholesale value when i got it). The only thing that was wrong with it was it needed new pads and rotors all the way around and it was just about time to replace the O2 sensors on it.... total bill was a little over a grand. And I haven't had a second worth of problems with it since. Last time I took it to the mechanic for a oil change he looked the car over and said it was in perfect condition.
