I'm looking at an R1 or a GSXR1000... does anyone have any segestions for me as to which bike handles better.

i have been a bike rider for many years,in my opinion going from a 500 to a gsx-r 1000 is a very big jump, if you want a bike with a lot of juice try the new 2006 or 2005 gsx-r 600r,talk about a lot of power 0-60 2.9 sec, top speed of around 165-170mph, now there are a few little things that you can do to make a little faster. new pipes, bigger carbs and of course the vance n hienz black box. that will give you unlimited rev, which will keep your bike from shutting down at 12500 rpm. you can get about another 10-15 mph by doing these things. another plus to this bike is that it is about 110-130lbs lighter that the 1000. there is a big differance in handling as well.test drive the 600 before making up your mind it will be worth your time.
