Between the two current models the EVO would edge the Sti in performance. But you have to understand that Subaru are making the rex a more "user friendly" and mainstream car, where with Mitsu they are going for the pure rally car direction. Both have their pro's and con's. The sti is a better overall package (being $15 000 dollars cheaper then the evo) it's a lot easier to drive day to day and a LOT more comfortable to drive. The EVO does get very annoying to drive, especially over long distances and the road noise is very very bad, but it's a rally/race car so that's what you would expect. If money was the factor out of these two i would go for the STI, because with the money you save you could spend on modifactions for the rex, then it would be even better then the EVO

But it's up to the individual, so you really can't force the issue( though i hate the boxy look of the EVO
