no power to ignition coil

anyone have any ideas... 1995 ford taurus 3.0

i started my car the other day and it ran for a few seconds and died. i have plenty of fuel pressure, but no spark. im not getting any power to the ignition coil. i looked at a wiring diagram and followed the power from the ignition switch to the fuse panel in the engine compartment. i have fire going into and out of the 10amp fuse... all other fuses good too. from there i didn't physically follow the wire to the coil, but according to the diagram the wire goes straight to the constant control relay module with two splices along the way... one goes to the ignition control module the other to the ignition coil. i checked for power in these three places, none found. i thought i had found the problem, so i ran a new wire just to see what would happen... i had power in all three spots, but when i turn the key i lose all power... what do i check next?

some other things...

upon my initial investigation i found that my diagnostic plug coming from my powertrain control unit had melted on the little pipe connecting my egr valve to the exhaust... (intially i thought that i shorted out my pcu, but why no power to the coil, icm, and the ccrm???) i dont see the relationship in the wiring diagram... which doesnt even seem like its complete...

sometimes the engine wont even crank i just get one click or a series of clicks... should have plenty of power from battery...

sometimes the ccrm and something else (maybe the pcu) makes a hissing noise, is this normal?

any advice would be appreciated...
