Re: 87 crx will not start wen hot outside

Is it silver looking and about 1" thick and approx 2x4" in size? Follow the wires and it will lead you to the answer. In short, It is the resistor box for the fuel injectors. What it's real function and how it works I can't explain. I've never opened one up. It's connector C26 in the wiring harness according to the manual and just states-To Resistor.

If it is a starting issue when hot it will most likely be the main relay. It is found under the left side dash on the door side. In behind the fuse box. It says main relay right on it. If you let your car sit and cool down does it start after about 15 minutes? Spray some air in a can on it next time and the cooling effect should shrink the solder to start agian. It's a typical Honda/Acura problem

Methods of fix are:
1. Buy a new one
2. Take it apart and resolder all the joints as they deteriorate with age and only work when cold. You will see discoloration on the board. If you are not comfortable take the circuit board to a place that will do the solder work for you.
3. Find one from another car in a junkyard and give it a try. Sometimes they work and sometimes not. Make sure it is the same one as you currently have. JS
