No, House carpet won't work, the backing is too stiff to fit right and it won't stretch like it is supposed to. If you get a molded carpet, you don't need to glue it down. If you buy a unformed carpet, you can use 3M Trim Adhesive available at most auto parts stores.

Try looking up Auto Custom Carpets if your searching for new carpet for your car if you need stock replacement that's formed for your car, which you don't have to glue in.
