Other than changing your DRL module, a cheap way to keep your daytime running lights working, is to install a relay (Normally open side of it) in series with the DRL fuse. And power the relay with your auxilary off your ignition. This will act like a switch that is open when the ignition is off. Make sure your relay is a heavy duty relay (30 amps or so, they sell them for fog light installation).

I personally have just pulled the fuse. They didn't look at my daytime running lights when they ran my last safety, so I didn't have to fix yet. When they notice them not working, that's how I plan on fixing.
