You'll need to diagnose what is missing for the engine to run when it dies, or else you may find yourself running in circles. Check for fuel, check for spark. Maybe keep a can of something flammable handy so you can spray it into the intake. If it starts again, but only runs for a few seconds, fuel delivery is certainly the problem.
What engine is it?
